Vermont trip 2010
My roommates and I recently took a quick trip to Vermont to relieve some of the
madness that is grad school.
Though it rained for 24 hours right before we left, it was sunny for our four hour drive to Bennington, Vermont (as well as for the rest of the trip).
My crazy roommates: Trevor and Svend.
A house with an envious view.
Part of the point of our trip was to see the leaves changing colors.
We finally made it to the beautiful (and creatively named) "Small Lake".
For some reason, we decided to go swimming in yon Small Lake; I'm not sure why. It was quite cold, probably 50 or 55...
...hence the jackets afterward. Of course, none of us thought to bring a towel.
We hiked around the lake a bit to get a better view of some beaver lodges, though we never got a glimpse of the lodges' makers.
My favorite pic of the lake, presented here in all it's washed out, thanks-flickr-for-stripping-the-sRGB-color-space non-glory. Here's the original.
Much of the hike was along a stream. Pretty, but my shoes would have preferred the stream 5 feet to the right.
Obligatory telephoto-small-DoF-leaf-pic.
My shoes also would have vetoed this situation.
If you had asked me whether or not there are sharks in Vermont, I would have said no. And I would have been wrong. Here Mr. Rockshark gets the best of Trevor.
Rockshark continues his meal with me.
Fortunately, Svend stepped in and wrestled Rockshark to the ground. Thanks, Svend, but a little late.
All told, a great trip!
